Ziggy Rose, the creative force behind Strange Obscura Photography, specializes in wet plate and alternative photographic processes from their base in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Raised in Eagle, Wisconsin, a charming old railroad town rooted in the 1800s, Ziggy grew up amidst stunning landscapes and a rich tapestry of history that profoundly influenced their artistic vision. The serene natural beauty and historical depth of their surroundings instilled in Ziggy a deep appreciation for the stories that images can tell.
Ziggy studied photography at Milwaukee Area Technical College, where they honed their skills and discovered a passion for alternative photographic processes. The focus on wet plate collodion allows them to connect with the past while creating striking and evocative images that resonate with contemporary audiences.
When not engaged in wet plate photography, Ziggy enjoys crocheting, indulging in obscure horror films, exploring antique stores, and embarking on road trips to national parks.
Currently, Ziggy offers tintype portrait sessions, which can be booked here, and is also available for assignments, commissions, and freelance work
